Final Blog
Working with Illustrator throughout this semester has been quite a journey, but looking through the work of myself, and everyone else in the class, you can see how we have all come a long way. My favorite thing we have learned this semester was the low-poly art, and that will be evident throughout my presentation. Not only is the cover to my portfolio a low-poly design, but you will see bits of low-poly art implemented onto each page.
We worked with vector art this semester, and, personally, I think it is one of the coolest art forms there is. I would have never thought we would be able to make some of the things we did by the end of this semester.
As I said earlier, the low-poly fruit was my favorite project. I enjoyed the process, and really thought the outcomes were incredible as well. Creating a 3-D image out of triangles is a strange idea to me, but I now think it is my favorite art form.
This semester, I think I combined realistic images with cartoon images very often for our projects. As you can see, my fruits are clearly cartoons, but I made sure the shapes and details were relatively realistic. I did this again with my T-Shirt design. I actually traced a real hand in order to make that design look the way it does.
Making my portfolio cover was pretty simple, only because I already knew what components I wanted in it. I tried to make it look almost like a magazine cover, but I also wanted to create another low-poly image.
The portfolio itself has low-poly components in it, but it is very loosely put together. I chose black as my background because I think a black background fills in extra white space, and makes images stand out more.
